The object of this website is to provide information regarding Marguerite Howarth, a Lancashire born artist who lived in Woking from the outbreak of World War II until she retired with her husband to Grassington in 1973. During her time in Surrey she produced numerous pictures of buildings and landscapes of the county initially pen and ink drawings but latterly water colours which she exhibited in local art shows. In Surrey History Centre suggest that her paintings depict a wide range of Surrey buildings and that their detail makes them a valuable historical resource.
